The name Amulet is a metaphor for risk
management. Using geophysical methods in oil and gas exploration
is key to managing the risks of dry holes.
The word amulet is synonymous to
talisman which comes from
the Greek word "talein" and means "to initiate into the
mysteries". In oil and gas exploration, mysteries out-number the known
ten-to-one. At Amulet Exploration, the use of diligent exploration methods and high-level geophysical interpretation serve to minimize the
mysteries and thus lower the risk
profile of the client’s exploration or development projects.
The word amulet comes from Latin amuletum, meaning "an object
that protects a person from trouble". At Amulet Exploration, seismic
methods are viewed as the best form of exploration risk management available to
the oil and gas industry.
Certainly, the
notion that geophysics is a form of black magic also plays, tongue-and-cheek,
into the name Amulet. Yet, at Amulet Exploration, much care is taken to unravel
the mysteries of the subsurface with due care and attention to detailed forward modeling, interaction with the client’s geologist, detailed seismic interpretation, and exploration risk quantification and management.
